Vision For ICT Within Dinas Powys Infants.
These are the schools current and future aims for ICT Development:
1. Children will be taught to use ICT equipment and software confidently and purposefully to communicate and handle information to support their problem solving, recording and expressive work.
- Children will have full access to devices such as computers, scanners, printers, radio, television, tape recorders, roamers, metal detectors, BeeBots and a full range of ICT equipment used to handle and process information. This range to be added to as new technologies develop.
- The school will offer children a laptop in the ratio of 1:2 children for lessons on a timetabled basis and make use of standalone pc’s in every teaching area. There will be at least 3 pc’s together in each area for group work.
- ICT Alive will be installed on all laptops for the teaching of ICT skills throughout Key Stage 1 and will be used fully as an assessment tool for ICT. Early Years ICT will also be installed for the teaching of ICT skills throughout early years.
- Wireless internet access will be available throughout the school and within the school grounds.
- Laptops will be fully portable and may be used outside as well as inside, and connect easily to other technology e.g. Blue Movie Maker or digital microscopes.
- New technology, such as video conferencing, web-cams, digital movie makers, digital microscopes etc., will be integrated into the school curriculum to enhance learning (particularly in relation to the implementation of the Foundation Phase) and improve motivation to learn.
- ICT will be used freely by the children to demonstrate their understanding of a learning and teaching point, for example by digitally recording a role play of a concept, using a word-processor to type out ideas, printing out observations when using a digital microscope, using a graph to show different data, making a PowerPoint presentation of findings or ideas.
- ICT provision will be fully inclusive for all ages and abilities through from nursery to year 2.
2. ICT will be fully used as an assessment tool. Pupil performance will be tracked using ICT systems and pupil assessment records will be held electronically.
3. The school will communicate with parents through the school website and via e-mail. Letters home will only be provided on paper where no electronic communication is available.
4. Dinner money and other payments to the school will be collected electronically to free up administration time.
5. All planning and schemes of work will be kept electronically and online for easy access from home or school and teachers weekly planning will be submitted via e-mail to the head teacher and stored electronically.
